Great planning by the school district!

One local fifth-grade teacher, Vicki Niles, is suggesting that her students do some things to continue their prep for this "important" test of her fifth-graders' skills:

(From today's Bellingham Herald)

"EVERYDAY READING To practice reading, teacher Vicki Niles encourages students to explore all different kinds of texts: Follow a cookbook recipe. If you're going to a restaurant, read the menu yourself." WOW! Read the menu yourself! Makes me really envy the reading level of her students, that's for sure! I wonder what she wants them to do to prepaare for the math portion of the exam? Maybe count the number of people that they know that can actually READ the menu?

Stellar! Can't wait to get my kids into that public school next year!
